World Book and Copyright Day

Happy World Book and Copyright Day! It is celebrated annually on April 23, since 1995, when it was proclaimed by UNESCO to pay tribute to the indispensable contribution of the authors who contributed to the social and cultural progress of mankind, and also to encourage young people to read books. This date also bears a symbolic character for world literature, because on this date such authors as Miguel de Cervantes and William Shakespeare died. The city of Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) was chosen as the capital of World Book and Copyright Day this year, which will host a conference on freedom of speech, a competition for young poets, a master class on producing books in Braille, etc.
